A True Blessing

Blessing no. D306
12" x 24"
Acrylic on
Rice Paper over Stretched Canvas
Sold to a Private Collector
It seems someone is looking over my shoulder and guiding me to a new place in my art.

Once again a painting emerged from one that was intended to go a completely different path. This time when I had applied the rice paper and rotated the canvas, a very obvious maternal figure with glorious hair, was outlined.

Even in the choice of palette, my unknown guide had a mind of their own. The bright colors I had started with, were almost unknowingly muted to a softness much more befitting this gentle lady-in-waiting.

Upon seeing her, a friend immediately suggested the name Blessing. I think that, too, was meant to be. This lovely lady is a Blessing in more ways than one.
