Back On Track

Okay confession time. So I will admit to you, I got a little off track this past year. Three broken ribs, and the ensuing issues that went with them, left me unable to paint for most of 2009.

Instead, I spent the majority of the year establishing a presence, and playing games on Facebook a rather, um, addicting occupation of time.

The beginning of 2010 continued in the same pattern. My health not improving, my addiction to Facebook worsening, and my art completely off track. I did manage to muster the energy to enter one of three shows I had slated for the beginning of 2010. But only one of them.

I can not tell you how thrilled I was to receive notification that my work "Reflections" was juried into that single show!

Feeling somewhat invigorated, I dragged out the list of goals I had set for 2009. Even with my health setbacks, the only goal I hadn't accomplished, was that of getting into a National Juried Art Show. Well, that wasn't so bad at all. In fact, it left me feeling pretty good. Especially with my news from earlier this month!

Did I mention that single show I entered is the

It's good to be back on track!

so nice for you to get into the show! I was just talking to a young artist friend tonight and said I was spending a lot of time doing a website, a fan page on facebook..lots of organizing of art supplies and studio and not enough painting..he reminded me that thoses things were part and parcel of the self promotion we reclusive artists are doomed to do if we want to be "out there". That it was time spent on the business and the time for painting would be back. Of course I spend a lot of time daydreaming/napping and getting my ideas that way!!! Sometimes these slow seemingly non productive times are necessary for healing, contemplation, life. Don't beat yourself up over the slow year..you are still "in it"! Of course this is a pep talk for me too!!! Have a great day

Thank you so much Kay, I needed that refresher! ♥ These office projects are a necessary part of the business, albeit not any of our favorites. You are right. Even though I wasn't actually in the studio, I was thinking about projects and colors and did manage to get paint, boards and paper restocked and ready for "that" day that is hopefully near. Thank you so much for posting. You really helped me put it all back in perspective. cyd
