Zowie was awarded the first First Place ribbon I have received in Acrylic Painting. This was particularly exciting for me as I saw these beautiful zinnia's at the Colorado State Testing Gardens. Shot the photos of them myself. Then interpreted this one in primarily transparent acrylics. I even created an Acrylic painting demo of Zowie, which I call my break through painting.
Zowie is available as a Numbered Limited Edition Giclee Print.

Wowie! I also love zinnias and your painting really captured their "pop". The title amuses me too.

Hi Jackie! Thank you. I worry a lot about composition...and a single giant flower really had me contemplating placement, so I appreciate you mentioning that. For some reason I couldn't find a book that said...here is where you place the center of a 20" wide flower. LOL. Cyd
Jana, I'm so glad a zinnia lover enjoyed this. Would you believe Zowie is actually the name of this hybrid? I am hoping to do at least one companion piece, and am already in batman motif...thinking up names...and ironically you hit one of them! LOL. I'm glad you enjoyed this painting.
