I have made the momentous commitment to create a more vibrant and welcoming blog! I signed up for the 4-week Blog Triage Class with Cynthia Morris and Alyson Stanfield. Today's assignment is to describe the people i want to visit and read my blog; And what I want to get from the blog.
I would like a blog where people can come visit, maybe sit down with a cup of coffee and just enjoy reading and viewing and hopefully commenting. I would like it to be cheerful and friendly and have more of a feel of home and chatting with a sister, than a place of marketing. Even though I would of course love for the occasional painting to find a new and loving home from this site. hehe.
I envision the people that come here would be my friends, family, artists. collectors, perhaps others who share a common interest with me in venues outside of art. People who are seeking a place to view art and share their thoughts and comments about art, without feeling like they are in way over their heads.
I guess I want my blog to be my home. The paintings are essentially being shown in my living room. And any visitors are my family. (I remember Wynona Judd saying something similar at a concert in Omaha years ago when she and Naomi were still touring together. That wonderful welcoming thought has stayed with me forever.)
So...Welcome to my new home! Sit down, enjoy your coffee, and let's talk art. :)

Cyd, I love this! The coffee cup and newspaper image really suits your desire for your blog to feel home-like. I look forward to hanging out here and enjoying your work and perspective on life and art.
And don't worry, the blogging surgical knife won't hurt too badly!

Hi Cyd,
This is such a sweet bit of writing! I feel very welcomed and also better-inspired to tackle this subject on my own blog pages. Thanks for leading the way! Glad to be in this class with you!
Cyd - I'm sure we will all feel at home visiting your newly vamped blog...it feels cozy and welcoming already!
Cyd, You are doing a great job with all of this. I love the newsletter, love the blog, you're presence on facebook. The only one I haven't looked at is twitter. That one can wait but I'm definately adding a link to this on my blog and I'm inspired to get to work on my blog too.
Hey Cyd,
What a great Day One Blog post!
I love the coffee and newspaper image. Very welcoming and chatty.
Cynthia, Thank you so much. I am hoping it doesn't hurt. hehe. And that I can make this a little more friendly than just an archive for paintings, with your and Alyson's help.
Liz, that is so sweet of you. What a nice thing to say. I can't wait to see how our blogs change! Glad to be in class with you too.
Joan, Thank you. Make sure you bring your coffee with you. If I am going to be writing, I do have a tendency to be long winded as you know. hehe.
Helen, Thank you. It's been a long year, but a great way to take up time while my ribs healed. :) Helen your blog is so cool already! Now Twitter...if you figure it out, let me know. hehe.
Janice, thank you. Just what I wanted to convey. Off to see yours. :)
Cyd, I also like what you've done with your blog. I see a few ideas I may have to steal as well! It's great being able to learn from each other like this.
Thank you Dawn. It really is helpful to have friends redoing theirs at the same time.:) All these ideas we get to pass around are great!
