The Waiting is over...
Introducing First Morning

| First Morning no. D314 30" x 15" Acrylic on Rice Paper/Canvas on Masonite |
If you hold them up side by side, the curtains and flooring line up.
My goal was to have Waiting be the pregnant woman waiting for the baby to come, or someone to come get her to take her to the hospital. Because in my mind that is more towards evening, Waiting is a little darker and mistier.
Now, in First Morning, the baby is born and the mother is introducing it to the light for the very first time. I tried to achieve almost an opalescent look to her gown in this one, and a glow to the baby's face as the light from the window hits it.
First Morning is a brief second in a life. A gentle, kind loving moment we get to peek at

Waiting

| Waiting no. D312 30" x 15" Acrylic on Rice Paper/Canvas on Masonite |
Once again, completely out of the blue, I was inspired to create another piece of art based on life and motherhood.
As this lovely lady emerged from the canvas, I not only see her waiting for the little one to make an appearance. But I can also see her standing by the window, perhaps waiting to be taken to the hospital.
My goal was to capture the quiet gentleness of this last silent moment. That final quiet communication before the baby makes it's entrance into the light.
